Today is October 19th, the Breast Cancer Awareness day in many countries. Perhaps you're thinking "Why just breast cancer? There are a lot of types of cancer". Of course I know there are a lot of types of cancer; I've lived some of them very closely: skin cancer, cervical cancer and renal cell carcinoma. But breast cancer is specially mortal because many women don't check their health periodically and that kills them. In my country (Mexico) twelve women die everyday due the breast cancer.

There are a lot of risk factors to develop breast cancer. Some of they are:
:bulletpink:Being older than 40 years old
:bulletpink:Having familiar antecedents. If your mom, aunt, grandma, sister, cousin or other of your relatives have had breast cancer, you have more posibilities to get it, too.
:bulletpink:Being overweight
:bulletpink:Smoking
:bulletpink:Hormonal issues

How can you try to detect this type of cancer?
:bulletpink:Do the self-exploration of your breasts after turing 20.
:bulletpink:After being 40, do the mammography every two years; after being 50, do it every year.
:bulletpink:Make exercise and eat balanced way.
:bulletpink: Don't wait! If you see or feel something weird or uncommon, make an appointment to your gynecologits.

I know dA is full of young girls who probably are thinking "I'm too young to think about it"; don't be so confident; nowadays there are many young women (younger than 30) that have got breast cancer. So don't be neglected and take care yourself since now.

If you have doubts about this and other types of cancer, I strongly suggest you ask to a specialist (an oncologist or a gynecologist). You may check websites, but make sure to check serious websites (no just Wikipedia or places like that).

There is just one thing missing from this? Where are men who get breast cancer mentioned anywhere in here? I know this a little late, but I just came across this, and I feel a strong need to express this. Also if you intend on giving me that line that men don't get as often please don't. Even though men don't get it as often as women do they still get it, and it can be just as devastating for them.
