okay... Someone REALLY needs to tell you this... I'm not trying to be mean, but you really have not improved at all. You don't even know the basics of anatomy. Everyone here has just been saying how good you are or how much you have improved, but you really haven't. The only thing you've done was move from traditional art, to digital art, which doesn't make it better at all. I know you're probably going to delete this comment, but that will just mean you aren't open to criticism and you aren't serious about art at all. If you want to stay in the same place, art wise, for the rest of your life, then keep doing what you're doing. If you want to improve, then you need to start ALL over and go back to the basics, because honestly, you never learned how to draw.
First at all: Thank you for opine here, to my face, not like some people of 4chan and Tumblr who critize behind my backs. I appreciate it. Yes, now I UPLOAD my digital drawings to dA, but I haven't stopped to draw traditionally, simply I don't upload them because my scanner's image quality is poor and I can't buy one better for now. I don't think digital art is superior to the traditional art; both are good for me. I am open to critize, but I want that, if somebody is going to critize, that person should do it like you, face-to-face, because critize the work of other people behind their backs isn't right (at least for me). I have never taken classes, only a little tutorial about how to make the "skeleton" of a drawing. But I want to tell you something: yes, the way I draw isn't the best (some people consider it awful, creepy and even ugly) and it may has many flaws, but I don't try to make it look realistic, and a lot of popular styles of drawing are very unconventional, like the PowerPuff Girls and Adventure Time (Have you seen the arms of AT's characters? They could be noddles) and it's OK, because they're not trying to be realistic. So, thank you for not being a coward and made your critize in my face, instead of hiding in the anonymity of the internet. I promise you I'll try to make it better, even if only I can see the change.
I appreciate that you aren't like some people here who can't take criticism.
BUT, you have to understand something. Every professional artist, even the artist's of The Powderpuff girls and Adventure Time, have drawn from life and practiced their anatomy first. That's not their only style of drawings. I used to be like you, I though that since I wasn't going for a realistic style, that it was okay for my drawings to look like they did. But its not okay. I've never taken any art classes either, but there are tons of tutorials on the net.
You DO NOT focus on style until you know the basics of how the human body works. If you studied and practiced anatomy, THEN started to develop your style you would see a HUUUUUGE improvement, trust me. Young artists today don't seem to understand that everyone who has ever become a good artist, learned the basics first, even if their art is abstract or not of a conventional style.
If you really want to ever do something with your art, you're going to have to start over. I know it sounds scary and boring to learn from the start again, but that's the only way you'll ever improve. If you keep drawing like this, you'll never improve at all. That isn't an opinion, that's a fact.
I just want to see everyone improve their art on this site, instead of people telling them they're good when they aren't. That's not helping them as an artist. Even I have just started to really get serious about my art, and started drawing from life and really buckling down, and I can already see improvement. So trust me, it will help, as long as you're willing to put up the time to do it, and if you're disciplined.
I can understand that, to have an unconventional style, you need to know the basics. Also, tutorials are very useful (I use them to make desserts, dolls, photoshop effects and flash animations, but when I want to draw, but the results are usually bad u.u). Maybe you won't believe me, but I do a "skeleton" to my drawings to try to calculate proportions of legs, arms, torso, shoulders and feet; however, the final results don't look enough proportioned .-.
But, you know? I want to make a better style (because I know it'll help me), but also I want to keep my current style because, although all the obvious flaws, I genuinely like my current style; maybe I'm a "raven mom" to my style, because if I forget it, nobody would be able to make it again and I don't want that it dissapear, but those are my feelings; however, it doesn't mean I don't want to improve.
I truly appreciate your honesty and your good intentions to help me to improve. At this point of my life, I can't aspire to be a professional artist because I'm about finishing my degree in Marketing, but I know that improving my artistic skills will boost my other skills.
Thank you very much for acting so polite. Giving a mature, polite and, specially, constructive critice is the best way to help somebody c:
